The reason is that Cuomo forced Indian Point to completely shut down and ConEd is being forced to go to the open market to buy power from outside companies to service their own customers. Total clown world.

Some lawmakers are calling for an investigation, especially in Queens.

Just to keep things in perspective for you guys. I am in SUNNY San Diego but it gets chilly at night. Down to the low 40's. Not a big deal for NY'ers but houses aren't built for winter out here. My electric bill was $335 last month. I use one string of christmas lights and heat for 8 hours a night.

What does this statement have to do with ConEd bills?

It's not just you, everyone is getting hit.

https://abc7ny.com/con-edison-coned-...city/11549286/

It basically is what it always is; price of natural gas went up, much of juice ConEd buys comes from plants powered by natural gas, soooo...

This is what happens when you force utilities to divest themselves of power generation plants, and get latter off burning coal in favor of natural gas.
