Not true for any other ferry stops, you have to walk some distance to the subway, but its not totally inaccessible. It should be connected much better to our public transportation system however. It's a big gap thats not filled.
Plus I bring up the point again that majority of these stops have nothing of importance around them once you get off.
Seems like you aren't getting it. If there was a subway nearby, there wouldn't be a need for the ferries. Yes, there is nothing there because that's the point. It is serving areas with poor transit connections. lol

Which doesn't explain why Coney island, with multiple subway lines, needs one.

Actually it does because the ferry would be operating in the Western part of Coney Island where there are no subways. Anyone deep in Coney Island or in Sea Gate has to take a bus to get to the subway, which is a good two miles away.

Sea Gate is a fairly upscale gated community. Most Sea Gate residents probably take the X28 or X38 express bus directly into Manhattan, rather than the crummy B74 bus which runs along crummy Mermaid Avenue to the Stillwell Avenue subway terminal.

Even so, the ferry will be just outside of Sea Gate, so it provides those people with another option aside from the express bus. Looking at the schedules you provided, they only serve Sea Gate part of the time.
