Not many suits commuting from that part of Brooklyn. Those who commute don't have an option for WFH.
Plenty of white collar workers from southern Brooklyn pass through that station. Also, plenty of Orthodox Jews. Also plenty of Asians. Plenty of prime targets for "a man" with an orange vest and a gas mask.
There was a foiled terrorist plot years ago to attack the part of the Atlantic Ave/Pacific Street Station (now called Barclays) that serves the same subway lines -- D, N, R.
He was wearing a gas mask. Only in this covid world does that not draw attention. Prior to covid everyone would have ran.
Well, he also had an orange vest on and usually when it's like that people just look up then stop paying attention because you assume he's an mta worker doing stuff. He also had some tools and such so you just think, it's part of his job though a gas mask would give one pause... you would think
In this day and age who would dare to call the police on a minority person acting or looking suspicious? You would be called a Karen and possibly prosecuted for a hate crime.
I heard this interview on CNN with a guy who was in the train car where it happened. He's saying that people were trying to get to the next car for obvious reasons, but that the doors between cars were locked.
Can they do that? I thought they have to keep them unlocked exactly for this reason.
The conductor on the N train directed everyone onto the R, which then pulled out. Hopefully he knew the gunman had gone in another direction?????????????
Did anyone receive an alert for this incident? I didnt. Surprised that they wouldnt send out alerts telling people to stay clear of the area
