Imagine the dependency on electricity when everyone drives an electric car. They can charge whatever prices they want.
Get solar. As soon as it becomes cost feasible, I’m buying a system flat out. My electric - even with my car - is currently too cheap to justify the cost.

Unless you get Tesla shingles and it powers the whole house and charges your car overnight, you are still depending on a company, just not a gas company.

Sort of, but not entirely true.
You’re part of a cycle, correct, so power outages will still affect you. But that type of system still cancels out your electrical bill. It’s just that depending on your electrical costs, paying for the system might wipe out any savings.
My kwh cost is only $.14. It’s pointless to spend $20,000 cash to save $150-200 per month.
I don’t want to be part of the cycle. So unless my house can support itself and have storage batteries for cars to be recharged I’m not interested.
As the demand for electricity increases, so will the price. You don’t see them building new dams or nuclear power plants do you? Or are they planning to import electricity from India.
The switch to electric cars can happen very fast if there were more incentives, but I’m sure the oil companies are trying hard to prevent that. Look how big the cars have become again and they all get 10mpg again like they used to in the city, Yukons, tahoes, Escalades, pickup trucks. 18-23 mpg maybe on the highway? And that’s with 8-10 gear boxes and 400 + hp motors. You would think they would do a lot better than 70s 80s with half less power and 3 speed boxes.
Don't worry. The politicians will find a way to subsidize the increases for the "poor". Only the morons who work and don't scam the city will be paying the increases rates.

Tesla/ SolarCity has the worst reputation in the industry. The roof shingles are a disaster, and way too expensive.
The batteries are probably not worth it. Charging a battery, to charge another battery doesn't really make sense.....

That’s what I’m hearing too. I’m waiting for that whole concept to be perfected.
Probably not in my life time.
I love my v8 cars, wouldn’t nit have it any other way. Car for me is about driving experience. It about getting from A to B.
Forget electric CARS. In the REAL world, we all have air conditioning and the middle of the country is already peaking into the 3 digit temperatures.
I am expecting a big hit on my Maintenance costs given the recent settlement (we have 33 uinion employees) and this electricity hike (single meter electric.)
