I never understood how the show was treated like some cultural event beyond just being a cable TV show. I used to listen to WFAN a lot during its run and many of their sports shows devoted significant time to discussing the latest episode. I just didn’t get that. If you didn’t watch the show it was totally boring to hear sports hosts analyzing a fictional TV show and they often had cast members as guests.
He used to own an apartment in Bay Ridge at the corner of 69th and Shore, when I lived there I used to see him on the street around there years ago.
Still a nice area, but overall Bayridge is changing and not for the best. Some are trying to hold out and keep things going, but year after year it's less and less.
