There's one market one-bed available in my building now for $4,031mo.!

That is not bad, especially since it's a relatively new building and located in downtown Brooklyn.

If you're new to the city and have limited funds (or looking to save money), I think it's important to be creative and open when conducting your apartment search. For some people, this may mean having a room-mate.

The apartment featured in the below video has wonderful views. Apparently, it was rented as a large 1 bedroom, but converted into a two bedroom, (w/ a flex wall) by the renters. The two room-mates split the $3,750/month rent.

Prime Manhattan Apartment (room-mate share) for only $1,875:

Beautifully renovated 1- bedroom brownstone apartment unit with exposed brick in the living area. The apartment is located in Bedstuy Brooklyn:

The monthly rent wasn't mentioned in the video or blog post, but my guess is, it may be slightly under 3K/month.

I only included this apartment because I love the décor, but it is definitely above 3K/month.

400 sq ft in tiny for a one bedroom. Studios are typically that size. So 3K for 400 sq ft is a bad deal.

I agree, it is tiny, but the apartment is designed well. I'm sure he's happy to simply have a separate bedroom where he can fit a queen size bed.

The below video features a beautiful and very spacious 2 bedroom (rent stabilized) apartment located on the Upper West Side. The rent is only $1,300/month!

If you had a rent stabilized apartment like the one below, would you ever relocate? --Probably not.

Maybe, maybe not. But I bet if hey didnt add that wall to separate the two and only charged 2K most would prefer that.
