"The meals are being distributed at over 300 locations throughout the city, including public schools, community pool centers and parks, according to the city.

A full list of 2022 summer meal locations can be found on the NYCDOE's website, by texting NYC Food to 304-304, or by calling 311."

Parents don't have to take care of their kids anymore. The state will do it all for you.

Many children of illegals in NYC public schools get these school meals, and it might be the only major one of the day. In many instances parents (who aren't eligible for benefits because they are not citizens), either tag along or kid will bring back whatever home.

When covid first hit there were stories in news media about mothers (illegals) showing up with their children at free school meals, sitting side by side with their kids and sharing. Officials at various school districts reacted in different ways, but most just let it slide because again what else were adults going to do? Many of them were out of work (that they shouldn't have due to immigration status, but that's another story), but didn't qualify for UI or any of the other free money being doled out. Well not until CA, NY, NJ and some other states began doling out "illegal immigrant unemployment" money.
