It's here to stay. I don't mind it as long as regulations are put in place (the one seen on the photo looks nice). I've seen them get rid of the rundown sheds that are not in use.

I’ve seen less of them since things have calmed down with covid & the current amount out seem okay. Before there were just too many and a lot of accidents happening

Not surprising. Once some government program is in, it's nearly impossible to shut it down in the short term.

Outdoor dining has its place but not in 95% of current cases. Just another idiotic, knee jerk reaction by the city which will make NYC even dirtier on a day to da basis and require even more city funds to maintain. I doubt the ROI in added city expenses covers the additional tax receipts from marginal diners who would otherwise not patronize a restaurant.

I never ate inside of those shacks and never will. They are dangerous and ugly.
Dining out is an experience and I am looking forward to an interesting design of the interior. Lot of people have very low standards when it comes to that and obviously don’t mind shoving food into their mouth sitting in a shack as garbage trucks roll by inches away.

If people want to sit in a shack where some bum junkie camped overnight while defecating on himself while high on meth then let them. They can be serenaded by the choir of NYC fire trucks, police sirens, car revvers, etc.

Most of the current day diners who use these are the do- nothing Yuppie work from home crowd. They're so brain addled from having too much time on their hands while making decent salaries that they sit in an Adderall and/or Xanax stupor while inhaling engine exhaust with a side of pear & arugula salad.

You have to culture the herd somehow from time to time in hopes of a better future, better NYC?

”The unanimous decision from justices*in the state supreme court’s appellate division turned on the city’s finding in an environmental review that there was no adverse impact of the program.”

Of course...since it doesn't affect their QOL, the plebs of NYC will have to deal with it.

The only people who suffer are those thinking that
this makeshift outdoor dining is a wonderful experience.
