There been skyscraper boom near Central Park which been dominated by skinny towers

270 Park Avenue, JPMorgan Chase‘s 1,388-foot supertall headquarters in Midtown East. Designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 70-story skyscraper will yield 2.5 million square feet of office space and accommodate 15,000 employees, and will become the tallest building in New York powered completely by hydroelectric energy

Based on the pace of progress, 270 Park Avenue could potentially top out in late 2023 to early 2024, with full completion likely occurring sometime in 2025.

Those skinny towers are residential and trying to outdo each other for unobstructed views of Central Park but this one and the ones at Hudson Yards are office towers so they are bulkier.

There’s going to be an even more taller and sexier office tower next to Grand Central to replace the Hyatt.

They'll get this done. Then JP Morgan Chase will decide to move its HQ to Florida.

Jamie Dimon loves to talk but I'll believe this when I see it. I would love to see Chase hire and retain the talent they need in Florida.

I've been to networking events in the old building at this site. The lobby was always kept very nice, but some of large meeting areas needed some sprucing up. I agree that they'll get it done, but I don't see them moving their HQ anywhere. They're one of the most important NYC based banks.

Maybe not the HQ but I can see them moving the bulk of their operations out of NYC to NJ, NC and even Florida. Bank of America has a huge successful operations center in NC. Chase is now stuck with this large office building so of course they want all their employees back at their desks to justify it. But neither Chase nor Goldman nor any other large employer can stop the WFH trend.

The back of house operations, sure... Someone I knew in college I saw at an alumni event a few years ago. He works in finance, but not in a front facing role. The back of the house operations are much easier to move elsewhere for obvious reasons, but for the top end positions, they will continue to look to NYC for such talent. JP Morgan is very much vested to NYC.

Is Chase going to occupy all the floors or will they lease some floors?

I guess this is why Jaime is pushing for back in the office.
