The meaning of the “general public” IS everyone. While I understand that there is a minority of NY’ers that are Republican and did not vote for this, it is the system that we all agree to, that is, the majority decides.

It doesn’t matter that there were 2 million that voted for Zeldin, they were outnumbered by Democrat voters and we all have to live with the consequences.
