If more cars go EV thru mandate or otherwise which they are then electricity rates will only increase. Add to this more heat pumps/ electric stoves. The investment into the grid to manage this has to be passed onto the consumer.
The sweet spot for owning an EV has been the last few years. At least for myself. Strong tax breaks, lots of free charging and bought when gas was $2. Still can buy a Bolt today for high 20k though now many dealers are marking them up because of the new Fed tax break.
Which if you can utilize can bring it down to 20k!

That said when its mandated and adoption increases will there be any local/ fed tax breaks?
Already in my town finding free charging is more challenging. There are actually few pay chargers here. Those you find, don’t work half the time.
How far does the average Uber driver live outside Manhattan?

Was in Dublin last summer plenty of EVs there for Uber, but they were all pretty new to it.
Asked a driver about the regen on car. He replied its not a hybrid!
Oh um ok

Remember that summer a couple years ago when NYC told people to lower their air conditioners because they didn't have enough electricity? Good times. Can't wait to see what thousands of more EVs will do. Better build more stupid windmills!

A. Nobody said they need a new 50K vehicle
B. They have 7 years to plan ahead and the fuel savings could offset the costs (put gas money towards payment).
