Last I read..... #4 most segregated city in the U.S.
Fact check it.

Folks can also explore the demographics map right here on City Data
and come to their own conclusions.

From what I see:
People are tribal............have been for thousands of years.

On a bigger scale?
China,India, Africa are more mostly homogeneous.

Let people choose where they reside, not government imposed rules and regulations.

Respect one another.

No, you are thinking of Corona which is almost 100% Latino. As I said in an earlier thread, Jackson Heights is about 50% South Asian. From a public safety perspective, the area is fine even at 2 am at night. They have 24 hour barber shops and grocery stores. You will see men walking around in turbans and women in hijabs or saris. 73rd street especially. The signs are almost all in Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, etc. not English or Spanish.

The area under the 7 train can be dirty due to all the pigeons dive bombing people with poop bombs. But that is anywhere under the 7 train to be honest.

Further north around 82nd street is when it really starts to become Latino. But these are the hard working Latino types who work in construction and restaurants. There were incidents of violent crime in the past - mostly cartel related. A Colombian journalist was assassinated by the cartels for investigating their connections to NYC banks in a diner. MS-13 also is present and notoriously stabbed a random hispanic man in the 7 train for a gang initiation. There are undoubtedly extortion and money laundering fronts in the neighborhood but the cartels keep a low profile to non-natives.

Edit - the Latinos in Queens are mostly South and Central American unlike NYC's traditional Caribbean community of Puerto Ricans and Dominicans. So, basically you can tell right away b/c their features are less African and more Native American/White mestizo. They also tend to be shorter and have worse English skills.

PS - Try Jackson Diner for the weekend Indian buffet.

This is pretty funny, fake or just plain ole naive. While it ain't ENY or Brownsville dangerous, there is plenty of nefarious acitivites going on at 2am and well before.

Don't ask me, just ask my buddy who was a cop there for 12 years up until a year ago when he retired. "Savages" was a word he'd often use to describe some of the late night shennanigans in the area.
