NYPD lowers fitness standard by scrapping timed, 1.5-mile run for new recruits — sparking brass squabbles
The NYPD has again lowered its requirement for police recruits, scrapping a timed, 1.5-mile run in the police academy, the department’s head of training told The Post.
The controversial move — which training Chief Juanita Holmes said will help more women applicants make the cut — sparked an intra-agency battle between Holmes and NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell that Mayor Eric Adams had to settle.
Most of the female cops they have now are overweight -- especially the non-white ones.
LOL don't look now but Commandant Berger's Force 2030 vision has gotten rid of Marine Corps tanks and is in the process of getting rid of Scout Snipers...he's even considering dropping boot camp completely in order to attract techies!!
I remember during my college years in the early/mid 90s, working in a delicatessen in Queens and having 2 women cops roll up to a homeless dude that was causing trouble in front of our store. This was prob 1993 ish. While I had started to see more female cops around that time, never seen 2 partnered together.
What a disaster. They couldn't get him down to arrest him. He was manhandling both of them laughing. I had to jump in and hold him down for them. It's at that moment in time I knew NYC was heading towards trouble with unqualified cops. But never thought it would get this bad.
