The robot "digi-dog" has returned to New York City but have you heard of K5? (though K5 has mostly made headlines for knocking over a toddler and “drowning itself” in a shopping mall fountain). lol. It looks like something straight out of Star Wars if you ask me.
Anyway, it's scheduled to patrol Times Sq and a select number of subway stations during a pilot 6 months run starting in July. Heads up.
Nobody should be surprised anymore that they are under surveillance in public areas. Hell, I even assume that I'm under surveillance every time I get into an office building elevator.
These K5s are basically just an "extra eye" on the street, and because they won't use facial recognition (which really isn't accurate on dark-skinned people), I don't think the average New Yorker has much to worry about. The civil liberties people are overreacting IMO.
Im think "digi-dog" is adorable...and you don't have to scoop up after him.
