they used to say the same of irish immigrants, of Puerto ricans when they fled to NY. you are lumping a lot of things together. In the 80s and early 90s there were a lot of drugs and prostitution in NYC, it wasnt caused by immigrants were we a 3rd world country back then?

The problem with the current situation is that instead of coming together to find a solution that both works for resident of NY and assist those who have fled bad conditions at other countries we just pit everyone against eachother with just spreading hate and labeling them all as worthless and criminals, thats just like stating that everyone in wellfare is lazy and just living off the city not realizing that many actually need it

are there probably criminals in those batches of immigrants? Of course!, are there lazy people on welfare? yes!, are there drug addicts in homeless shelters? Yup! but there are drug addicts or criminals in the NYPD, or lawfirms or in all parts of society, we dont just label all of them just by what some do.

when we pit everyone against eachother we dont get solutions we only get drama and bickering from 2 sides

The reason they do it so they can ask Uncle Joe Biden for more Federal money. It's all about funding and getting Federal money. The border states have always fought against the Feds to no avail until Trump arrived but now Biden is completely defunding the border patrol they can't do their job and the migrants and being welcomed by Biden.

The problem is NY and Chicago are deep blue so there is no need to flip them. But what the Dems didn't count on were some states shipping tens of thousands who recently entered the US illegally to sanctuary cities. Today NY and Chicago have a huge problem as busloads of immigrants arrive almost daily. Many of whom have no means of financial support. Of course, the locals are screaming.

Hear that on Trump Social, did ya? Come on man.

What really happened:

Strengthening border security and providing safe, lawful pathways for migration remain top priorities for the Administration. The Budget includes nearly $25 billion for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), an increase of almost $800 million over the 2023 enacted level when controlling for border management amounts. The Budget includes funds for CBP to hire an additional 350 Border Patrol Agents, $535 million for border security technology at and between ports of entry, $40 million to combat fentanyl trafficking and disrupt transnational criminal organizations, and funds to hire an additional 460 processing assistants at CBP and ICE.

But a lot of Irish, Italian, Puerto Ricans, and others WERE in fact problems, or - yes - criminals. The mafia didn't have a presence in the US until Italians starting coming over en mass, just like we didn't have Latin gang/cartel presence here until recent immigration from Mexico/South America. The Gangs of New York is based on true history.

Here's the big difference though: there were no social welfare programs for these people to exploit, and many of them ended up going back home when, as it turns out, the streets were not paved with gold as they had been told. After 1929, Congress strongly restricted immigration from these and other countries, allowing the fabled melting pot to do it's job and assimilate these new immigrants (who were most legal, by the way - your ilk always tries to conflate the two). That's why Little Italy, which was at one time a large Italian ghetto, has virtually vanished.

Now, not only do we not push people to assimilate, we push them to preserve their cultures and language. This is not a sustainable pattern. My mother's family, who came here from South America, refused to teach us Spanish because they wanted their kids to be Americans.

VA has some beautiful scenery as long as you get out of NoVA. Over the past few decades, NoVA has been plagued with exponential growth. We have many neighborhoods that have been destroyed due to illegal immigration and uneducated legal immigrants who overcrowd houses. Not to mention the toll it takes on the school systems.

The problem is that people like yourself don't want to admit that the USA cannot accommodate all those 6 Billion people who live in bad conditions.
So maybe you start: how would you solve this problem?

How will NYC migrant situation affect city future such city budget do city has cut city services, ? How tourism industry impact with more and more migrants going into city hotels and city ban Airbnb. A lot of tourist told me they prefer Airbnb because it cheaper than hotels in Manhattan or close to it is expensive for them. When tourist come to city for first time they thinking it going be like movies but they see migrants like Paris and London.
