When will enough people get pissed at all this nonsense, boot the loonie lefties 8n the city and state government, and reverse all this nonsense? I guess the body count hasn't gotten high enough yet.
“ New York will then be one of a dozen states with such legislation. Hochul said it will help fill more the more than 450,000 open jobs in the state.”
“ Among the separations in New York, 129,000 were quits”
She got her 450k job opening number from the same labor statistic that said 129k quit which added to the number. Trying to fill jobs that have high turnover. Good luck.
While generally tough on crime, I am going to play devil's advocate on this one. Once someone has done his time, he shouldn't be punished for the rest of his life. That's what life sentences are for, typically given only for the most heinous of crimes. With the amount of data collection and surveillance we have now, someone who commits a minor infraction could have his life ruined. And what about the small percentage of people who were wrongly convicted.

Above article …
“ "Twenty-six years after successfully completing my sentence, despite all that I have accomplished, I continue to have doors closed in my face," said Melinda Agnew with Center for Community Alternatives”
“ She’s no longer the angry, drunken 23-year-old who, in 1999, attacked another woman with a Bacardi rum bottle, leaving
lasting
facial damage. Agnew spent three years on probation, took drug rehabilitation though Syracuse Behavioral Health (now Helio) and vows never to drink again”
“ Agnew admits being an angry child who ended up down the wrong path: fighting in high school, selling crack and eventually beating up the other woman with the rum bottle. That assault was bad enough to leave the other woman’s face disfigured, Agnew says.
Curious how the victim feels ? How bad are the injuries still? What if her facial injuries are life long? What if she suffered the same injuries now in a random attack similar to some nyc attacks ? Seal and forget after 3 years? What if the victim has doors shut in her face because of facial injuries hypothetically ?
Curious on opinions. Is three years enough after conviction based on the bill for something like this?
Now pleaing felonies to misdemeanors are much more important which may increase a district attorneys conviction rate ? Does this affect the alleged defendant into a deal to preserve his/her future especially where they may be the small Percent that’s innocent ?
Why the 3 year wait? If a conviction is preventing jobs what does one do in the 3 years to provide?

Stupid stupid stupid.
If some poor schlep got pulled over and a cop found weed in the car or whatever back in the day, and that was the only thing they got in trouble for, then yeah, maybe cut them a break.
But like the above case where that chick mangled someone’s face for life, I don’t care if they’ve “changed” and they “are a different person” now. You wrecked another person’s life, for life. You deserve the same.

Nobody's perfect and we all make mistakes
You should be able to given the opportunity to learn from them
Otherwise what this lady is going through is contradictory to the same system that is hailed as a beacon of self-improvement, most emphasized financially
Case in point "paid" the debt to society
If the debt is cleared why is she not being given the opportunity to enhance herself
