The neighborhood is mostly Hispanic. There's a few blocks with Indians toward the lower numbers (75, etc.) Roosevelt Ave. is not the safest place to walk during the night.. there's a lot of clubs, and there's drunk people congregating outside of them, so I suggest you stay away from there during the night. During the day, it's just overly crowded. The streets from 90 up are mostly comprised of tenements and have a more "gangster" feel to them. There are some co-ops with beautiful backyards in Historical Jackson Heights, but I'm not sure the entire area that this is composed of so you might have to find that out from someone else. There are PLENTY of places to eat, and all your amenities are in the area.. you also have very easy access to midtown Manhattan, so don't worry about transport. As far as affordability is concerned, I can't give you the best answers, but it can be a little over the top in some areas due to the up scaling of the neighborhood, easy access to midtown, and all of the food. You might want to check with someone else about the pricing.
