I was reading in the local papers this AM that the cover of Billy Joel's `1983 blockbuster album "An Innocent Man" showed him sitting on a stoop that is supposed to have been on a "Strong Avenue" in the Bronx where he grew up.
Whether or not this is true, I'd like to say that there is a Strang Avenue in Wakefield and a Strong Street in Kingsbridge Heights so I'm wondering which one is which. If i had to guess it may have been Strong Street which is in Kingsbridge Hts off Reservoir Avenue as opposed to Strang Avenue. I'm guessing by ethnicity as i believe Joel was Turkish-Jewish which was more prevalent in Kingsbridge than in Wakefield. Who knows?
They also mentioned that his albums from 1978-1986 (52nd street-The Bridge) were recorded at A&R studios at 322 W 48th street--wasn't that the big high school?
