It's not that New York has more creepy men than any other city--the problem is percentages. This city has eight million people. Take a figure like 1%. One percent of eight million is more than one percent of, say, one million. That's life in the largest city of the United States, unfortunately.
Your comments are extremely offensive to hispanics (I'm not hispanic) and I am glad you are getting harrassed. You learn a lot about a persons true character when they are pissed/frustrated and I think everyone on this forum can say we understand what you truly are about. Now that you realize that your American dream was not what is was cracked up to be you can move back to Nevada and let the poor New Yorkers suffer without any other young, blonde, attractive women in this large city. Maybe this should be the new thread.............. Why do people move cross country without getting a feel for the city they are moving too?
what I meant is in Vegas platinum blonde hair/tan skin, kind of a 'socal' look is really popular and I hardly see anyone like this in NYC. The style here is totally different and maybe I stand out with my west coast style.
NYC has the most Irish people in the country. The strongest New Yawk accents are that of the Irish NYers. Blonde hair isn't that uncommon.
The douchebags who do that are used to it. They do it in their own neighborhoods and with the girls they know so they think it's OK. If you look a certain way they will react a certain way. It's not right but it is life. I agree with another poster, grow a backbone and don't take no ish from anyone. Your look is not that uncommon, but, unfortunately, they equate that look with sorority girl, sluttish, etc. If you look like a pornstar, men will treat you like one in the street. Not meant as an insult to you; you can certainly look anyway you want in the City. However, you are not unique and you are not the only one going through it. Ignore the douchebags. Anyway what kind of neighborhoods are you walking through?
I haven't been in NYC very long (originally from Nevada) but never in my life have I experienced so many creepy men who blatantly stare me up and down, say nasty sexual comments to me, call me names, etc. until I moved here. I'm a pretty attractive, young, blonde girl, which is very common where I'm from, so I assume the guys there are just used to it. But here it's just ridiculous! So is it normal for a female to have 5 foot tall Hispanic men (oh you know what I'm talking about, I see them everywhere. They're all hispanic, short, and creepy. Often seen delivering food.) on the subway staring and whispering at you? To walk past a guy on the street and have him stop and turn around and shout something at you? When I'm walking down the street and see a group of construction workers I know what's coming. I've even had a guy grab my ass on a crowded subway.
Do these men have ANY respect for women?
It is a little hard to have sympathy for you with a post like that. You come across as a fake tanned, bleach blond, vagasly dressed, raciest, somewhat arrogant female, prancing around Manhattan. No one deserves to be harassed, but you make it a little tough to feel sorry for you.
BTW: if you think all Hispanic men are creepy, you are most definitely in the wrong city.

It's true that one percent gives you 80,000 people who will behave badly, but it's not just the size. It's also that we walk around here and take mass transit, putting people into a lot closer and more frequent contact with others than they would get somewhere where most time is spent safely ensconced in a car away from the rest of the world.
to a woman being verbally and sexually harassed - yes, if you read the OP's post carefully, you'll notice that someone even groped her from behind.
It doesn't matter what race or religion a woman is, every female, or for that matter, every person should be free to walk the streets or use the subway and not have their bodies subject to physical violation. If there was a cop around, she would have been in her rights to have the perv arrrested.
It's unfortuante that everything has to be clouded by ethnicity. A crime is a crime regardless of the perpetrator's race or the victim's race.
Unfortunately, it appears that there is no law against lewd comments - so our mothers, sisters, aunts, nieces have to coontinue to face these vulgar excuses for men as they go about their everyday lives.
It's unfortunate that she's treated like that, but the lack of sensitivity is due to her presentation.
She made this about race when it didn't have to be. Her extremely broad remarks are incredibly insulting to anyone who doesn't act like the small percentage of individuals who harass her.
Sometimes ugly things happen to people who do ugly things, and it's harder to feel sympathy for them.
As I posted no one deserves to be harassed, but I have a hard time feeling sympathy for someone who comes on a message board, post thats she pretty and is having a hard time with Hispanic men who are all short and creepy.
Does she deserve to have her ass grabbed by anyone, no! Do all Hispanic men deserve to be called creepy b/c she had her ass grabbed on a subway? no, Do any of her complaints become more relevant b/c she thinks she is pretty? Nope.
