I live in Jersey City Heights. I just landed a new job on 57th street that I would need to be at around 6:45 every morning. Is there anything that takes me that far uptown that early? The hoboken path only goes to 33rd. Advice would be very helpful.

If your 57th St. job is near the Columbus Circle area, just take the PATH to 14th St. and take the 1 train to 59th/Columbus Circle station. If it's near 6th Av., take the F train from 14th St., 23rd St. or 33rd to 57th St./6th Av. If it's near Broadway, take the N, Q or the R from 33rd to 57th and Broadway or if your job is near Lexington Av/57th, either the N or the R and get off at Lexington Av./59th St. station.
Also, 6:45 isn't all that early...at least, not in this town! The subway will have additional trains in service for the morning rush hour by the time you get to Manhattan.
You can do that...or you can get the N/Q/R/W trains also at 34th, all of which stop at 57th and 7th Avenue, and walk the block and a half to your work location. I, personally, believe in taking the first train that comes in--much less waiting time!
