You might want to go back and check the thread that you started on this very subject and all the information contradicting this statement (and the links to restaurants in NYC that serve Italian and the fact that pasta is a course).

I personally usually never get out of a nice NYC restaurant for less than $50 (with a drink or two) but considering your budget - I love this little place (as do the locals who live in the area - and it is dirt cheap!
Les Sans Culottes East - NYC Restaurant & Menu Guide. Menus, Ratings, Reviews. New York City, NY

Also, for French AND Thai, I used to love Penang (not sure how good it is these days.)

There is an Italian Restaurant on 2nd avenue around 81st Street I believe that is pretty good and not too expensive. For French food, you can try Chez Madeline's which was around 9th avenue and 43rd Street. I don't know if they are stil open but it was a nice restaurant, and the food was good.

There are a couple of Italian Restaurants in Midtown so all you need to do is walk around and check them out. If you don't mind getting out of Manhattan, you can try Queens on Court Street in Brooklyn.

Oops, my bad - Penang is not French/Thai (that's Le Colonial) but it is a good, inexpensive bet. Used to be my favorite take out place EVER when I lived on the UWS. And like the link above showw, it's got a great ambiance.

La Bonne Soupe on 55th (or 56th?) east of 6th ave. in midtown. (French)

Topaz on 56th between 6th and 7th (Thai)

Ozen at 96th and Amsterdam (Thai)

Penang is all right (I think it's actually Malaysian). It's a big chain restaurant. I personally like Nyonya, which is also a Malaysian place in Chinatown at 194 Grand St. I think Penang owns it now, but it's really good and cheap. There's also a location on W. 72nd between Amsterdam and Columbus.
