For me i think there is more to this than just what the media is releasing. The media and newspapers just put out information that will create ratings and sell papers.

Once you make that kind of media splash your branded for life. I don't know any of the details of this incident other than what was in todays paper, however, the Media has already rendered a guilty verdict that will haunt these two officers for the rest of the careers and lives.

They should at least be given the benefit of the doubt before being thrown to the proverbial lions.

Sounds great theoretically, but when we have a legacy of wrongdoing and abuse - both the published and unpublished cases - by officers, one is hard pressed to not reach the conclusions that we are reaching. That plus our everyday observations of abuse of power by those called upon to protect us can create a mental pattern for the average citizen.

BTW, a crooked mortgage broker is harmful to us all but a crooked, lawless cop can hurt us physically, emotionally, mentally, financially, even endanger our lives in many, many more ways than the other charlatans mentioned.

Yeah but if you get duped into a loan you can't afford causing you to lose everything and complain you'll be lucky to get seven on your side. If Doc had one too many cocktails last night and slips up and mom dies during surgery, you'll be dazzled with medical jargon explaining away how her death was unexpected and unpreventable. Once again no media.

I just think the paper should slow down with their judgement alittle until the facts are sorted out.

Every industry/profession gets their day on the cover of the news...it just so happens that the NYPD are stepping over themselves (or rather beating) everyone else to the cover story!

Let me play devil's advocate a little here.

One of these officers is well into her 30's. So I doubt she was a new hire.

Also maybe they were really acting in self defense. Does that merit them being called thugs, hood rats, or biatches?

Don't know these officers, so how we can gather that they are qualified or unqualified for the NYPD? For all we know they might have graduated at the top of their respective classes.

Its just interesting how in certain situations, P.O.'s seem to get a lot of leeway from the public while in others they don't.

No its just that they have the most visible job. If a Doctor, lawyer, banker, janitor, mcdonalds etc. flips out and beats someone it won't make the paper. If a cop throws a punch off duty it stands a very good chance of making the paper. Just because someone is hired to enforce laws doesn't mean they don't suffer the same inherent human flaws as everyone else.

Side note:
I bet the PBA is jumping for joy that it was two black women, otherwise Sharpton would have to break out the suit and start crying about the white devil keeping down the black man.

I agreed with your first point but could you explain your side note. I didn't get what you wrote.

Once again, please note that a cop holds a power unlike many others cited. And the power of a criminal hiding behind a uniform can be, and too often, has been, the demise of many law abiding citizens.

Yes, we hold cops to higher standards and yes, we ought to. We collectively through our government decide to give them a badge and a GUN. Those are two all-powerful tools that should be used to protect us.

However, history is proof of the enormity of criminality that can arise when those tools are given to individuals who should be on the other side, possibly even behind bars.

We cannot and will not entertain police brutality, police intimidation, framing, coverups, and other forms of lawlessness as being allowable character flaws whenever they occur anywhere in our country - regardless of race, religion, ehnicity of the pepetrator cop or the innocent victim.

Imagine what al sharpton would be saying if the two offending officers both had blonde hair and blue eyes. He'd be rallying the troops to picket city hall. The guys like like Candyman only he appears anytime white on black crime rears its head.

in summary

Black on Black crime is less controversial than White on Black

Before you get all high and mighty, lets make sure the "eyewitnesses" weren't some corner hustlers trying to get back at the NYPD. I think we should all hold our rush to judgement until the full facts of the case come out.
