Lol...unfortunately, the garbage men in my area do not lift anything...they drag the garbage along the sidewalk and the street..and guess what happens! It breaks/tears spilling garbage all over the place. And what do they do..laugh and keep going...why not pick it up? Aren't you guys supposed to pick up the garbage after all? For the record...garbage bags are not means to be dragged full along concrete, asphalt, etc. Then we are left with a big mess as they ride off into the sunset..day after day.

They ride off into the sunset like John Wayne, but instead of leaving a well-cleaned up town, they sometimes leave more garbage than we started out with.
I'm surprised no one has yet appeared from behind an unemptied dumpster clamoring for better salaries "like the cops just got."

Let me ask you something, do parked cars block access to the garbage so that we have to drag the bag far into the street? Or are you guys courteous and save the spot with orange cones so that we don't have to drag the bags around parked cars and double parked cars? If we can stop near the garbage we have no need to drag the bag a long distance. Bags can withstand being dragged about 10 feet without ripping. If bags are ripping, have you considered double bagging your garbage? Stop blaming us for all your problems when they can be resolved from the source.
That part-time job is not all it's cracked up to be or as glamorous as it might appear. There are many evenings when I have to drag myself to go meet another client. True there's alwways the retired sex symbol movie star or dancer for whom it's a pleasure to be a "companion."
Unfortunately, 99.99 % of the time, I end up reading an article on where did all the Martians go or some other mundane topic like the soaring price of butter in Transylvania - while in the company of my clients and doing whatever it takes to keep them smiling. When it's all over though, I am in a higher tax bracket. That again is a drawback as I can no longer qualify for a rent stabilized unit.
Lol...yes it is common practice in the city, and the city in fact encourages residents, to block all parking spots with orange cones so the garbage trucks have an easier time of backing up onto the curb. And the residents love it too...they get up early, and all take their cars and drive in circles in order to free up space across the city! But back to reality, you are no expert on how far a garbage bag "can be" dragged. Garbage bags are meant to put trash in, not to be dragged along asphalt/concrete. Sure I can double bag it, and 4 bag it for that matter...so long as you pay the difference in bags for me. When you stop dragging bags across the concrete/asphalt, we won't have the problem..so the problem does not lie in triple bagging, the problem lies in dragging bags on concrete/asphalt..so yes..you are to blame for the problem.

Well I guess you will keep having a problem. Unless the bags are light enough so that you don't have to drag the bag X amount of distance around parked cars, guys are gonna keep dragging the bag. For the most part, trash that comes from most multi-dwelling apartment buildings are compacted and makes the bags heavy. If the bag is not heavily loaded, the bag will not rip when dragged.
