How did I forget Ice Cube?! Nirvana too.
I went to an Elton John and Billy Joel concert. It was the bomb to see so many people my parents age ALL standing up and dancing. I couldn't believe it. The entire stadium was in waves. Crazy.

Hahah I went to an Elton John and Billy concert too. Everyone did get crazy into it. I love the two of them sooo much!!! Billy Joel always gets me singing, laughing, and dancing.
I also forgot DMB, Ben Harper--amazing-he puts on a great show too...Tom Petty, Neil Young, Stones, Eric Clapton, Lenny Kravitz- and he is so fine too..Counting Crows, Ray Charles
True to my moniker, it's blues, all styles, old and new. Also love the vaious music of Louisiana ~ zydeco (love that energy!), brass bands, Cajun, jazz. And old Motown Sound oldies.
I love the Big Band music that our grand/great-grandparents listened to (when I'm
"in the mood". . . a bad pun intended). Like reggae, some world music (like the stuff Putumayo releases), rock, drum-beat. Oldies (50's thru mid-90's).
I used to hate country but have grown to actually like some of it. I enjoy an occasional rap tune as long as the lyrics don't make me cringe. Some grunge rock I actually like. I can enjoy a lot of Hispanic music ~ some Mexican, Cuban, etc. All the music in the paragraph, I can only handle in smaller doses. Same with folk.
But I still despise "punk", rave, and gangsta rap (mainly because of the lyrics). And I stopped listening to Top 40 pop about 5 or 6 years ago when too many female singers began to sound like little girls (the Brittany sound).
Any and everything. From hardcore gangsta rap, to down south Gospel. From old time jazz, to the lastest techno/ house dub remix. Music is my passion. Though here are my favs.
Hip-Hop/ Rap ( anything from the 80's- early 90's and from 97-00. Though this is still my primary choice of music.)
R&B ( Mostly Motown, 80's 90's " New Jack Swing" and the highlight the mid to late 90's)
As I was raised with Bronx doowop in the 60's, and being a doowop singer since 1959 myself, I live, breathe and eat, doowop. My kids say that I'm lost in the 60's, but this grandma can still do a mean Mashed Potatoes. My all time favorite artists are Arlene Smith (The Chantels) Johnny Maestro (The Crests) Larry Chance (The Earls) the one and only fabulous Dion and The Duprees, The Chimes, the late Doris Troy, Barbara Lynn, Carla Thomas.
That's good stuff. I grew up on 101.1 in the family car and in the house during the 1980s and they played a lot of that.
Soundgarden, the Ramones, Lemonheads, Temple of the Dog, Mudhoney, Kings of Leon, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Biz Markie, Boogie Down Productions, NAS, Wu-Tang, Beatles, Rolling Stones
Man seventh Aaliyah is the ****!...besides her i listen to mostly 90's Hip Hop,jazz,a little rock/alternative,and reggaeton...
Yeah, Hip_Hop_Head....
It's nice how people will give due tribute to the music that truly deserves it (I guess it's a matter of opinion as to what music deserves it).
But WBGO did a special broadcast. It was a commemoration of John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme". It may have been to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its initial release (I'm not entirely sure).
It was hosted by Mos Def. He spoke about Trane and "A Love Supreme" as if it were Def's first love. He definitely spoke with a knowledge of, and even a passion for Coltrane's work. It was nice.
Even when you check out Carlos Santana...it seems that two of his all-time favorites are John Coltrane and Miles Davis. He calls Miles "The Muhammad Ali of Modern Music".
