For engineering? Perhaps. But it's more of a specialized school. If selectivity is the criteria, then I'd say Julliard. But overall academically I'd say Columbia and then NYU by far.
.
Actually, all three schools at Cooper are well-respected... I would say that the art and architecture programs are even more selective than the engineering program. As for overall selectivity, the last time I saw Juilliard release admissions data, it was about the same as Cooper (8%) which is about the same as Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Annapolis and West Point. Columbia admits about 10% of applicants and NYU admits around 38%.

All of those schools are pretty reputable for whatever they offer. Out of the NYC schools, Julliard is technically the most selective. West Point, Cornell etc aren't NYC schools, hence why they don't qualify on this list. Columbia imo is the best due to the variety of their programs being of very high quality all around, including their graduate and professional schools. Every degree program that they have is probably ranked within the top 10 nation wide, with several of them being in the top 5. NYU is a clear 2nd imo, for similar reasons but replacing it with the fact that many of their programs rank somewhere in the top 50 or top 25, with a few in the top 15 or so.
