We are a small wedding party of 12 people who are looking to celebrate in a caribbean restaurant in Manhattan. We would like a quality restaurant with good food, a good vibe and good rum cocktails. Any suggestions?

There is also Negril's in the village. The address is 70 W. 3rd St. If your not to set on Manhattan, you should try Sugarcane's which is in Brooklyn. Five minutes over the Manhattan Bridge on Flatbush Ave near Sixth Avenue. Good food, nice atmoshere.

Negril in Chelsea is good and it is a small restaurant so it might be ideal for the wedding party. It's Caribbean food, not soul food (two distinct tastes even though some dishes may overlap).
There used to be a restaurant called Carib in the village but I don't know if it is still open. Day-O was another one, but I believe that they are still closed.

Thanks for the info'. Negril in Chelsea it is then.We visited Negril in Greenwich Village when last in NY (albeit 10 years ago) That appears now to be more "Nu style." Not sure what that is over the pond, but here in London it usually means big plates small food.
Once again many thanks for the advice.

I would recommend Sofrito\'s in East Midtown. It is Puerto Rican cuisine in an upscale enviroment, and it has excellent rum cocktails of all kinds and delicious mojitos. Although the food is primarily Latin it is definitely carribean too. It is delicious!
