The businesses I was referring to are not near Fordham Place. They are by the 4 train near the Jerome/Fordham Road intersection. Where that pharmacy opened there is literally a Duane Reed about a block off on Fordham and Rite Aid about 3 blocks off west also on Fordham. The Concourse is also only a few blocks off that particular area. Strictly speaking locally, it was an odd business choice for a prime location. But like I said I don't expect it to last long.

But I get what your saying. For people who live near Fordham Place, the Walgreens is pretty sweet, and fills a pretty big void. I just hope they can afford Walgreens.

Nice brochure. The area certainly has a lot of potential, and I have always felt this. I just hope the recession doesn't set back progress.

SoBro do you know if they've had any luck filling up the office space?

There was an initial lease up of space, but as the economy has slowed space has not been leasing as fast. But because the rental rates and tax advantages are very low, they are still getting substantial interest from Tenants that are looking for value, and the Bronx is now offering that proposition to the commercial Tenants as well. Huthinson metro, the huge new development off the Hutching River Parkway by Westchester Square/Morris Park, fully leased for the same reason, best value. Fordham will lease up ...it will just take a little longer right now.
