NewYorkPass seems to include a lot more admission fees than does the citypass, albeit at a higher price. If you're going to go to many sites, it could be worth it, but if you're exploring the city on your own, and want more in-depth times at an attraction it might not be. One can easily spend days at the Met, for example, and several hours at the Museum of Natural History and the planetarium.
Travel times alone between attractions, not to mention waits at said attractions, and visits can take some time, so NewYorkPass gets the edge in no-wait lines at some attractions. If you plan effectively, minimizing travel to one area, exploring it and then on to another, I think you could get the value of the NewYorkPass out of the trip. If, however, you are more of a leisurely traveler who likes to stay longer times at a given attraction, it might not be the best value, though I do understand that there are other discounts that can be worthwhile such as restaurants and shopping. However, comparing the two, I think that you could easily get the benefit of the higher price out of NewYorkPass by effectively planning your trip.
