I have a friend who was recently terminated from the nypd. He was a partner for a day with a guy that got jammed up a day after they worked together. The day that the guy got jammed up my friend was RDO and was ot involved in any way. 2 weeks go bye now my friend gets GO15 about what happen the day they worked. They did a few phantom vericles. mMy friend was called down as a witness only. 4 months go by and my friend gets a visit from inspections and he gets modified because of the incident that he never even was involved with. A month of being modified my friend gets terminated not even an explaimnation why or anything hes assuming its because of the phantom verticles. Let me mention that my friend was on probation with a year and a half on. What do you guys think he should do or rather is their anything he can do? He never even seen it coming. Everyone even his delegate said they never seen anything like tyhis before. The guy never even had a chance to resign or anything. Whats the chance of him even moving to correction or something any advise would be greatly appreciated...

Try a Lawyer. Unfortunatley because your friend was on probation and depending on the circumstances, he may just be screwed.

What do you mean when you say "they did a few phantom vericles." Do you mean "verticles" or "vehicles?"

Default "vericles or vehicles"

I believe what Deebest78 meant to say was phantom verticals. A function of patrol that's performed in housing developments.

Was these the two cops who put over verticals but never went in the building? Meanwhile, some girl was getting raped in the stairwell?

He's done.... they can fire anyone on probation without giving a reason. The fact that he lied, both over the radio & in his memobook, gives them all the reason in the world to can him. Normally, it would be the loss of a few vacation days but they are pbviously making an example out of these rookies.

Personally, I think it is a good thing. The department needs to set these new jacks straight. The quality of the new breed leaves many things to be desired.

I hear what your saying but my friend was pretty much guilty of improper memobook entry. The few verticles he had in his book he never went over the air with. He was mixed up with someone that got caught up and he gets screwed because of someone else that doesn't seem right. I mean be honest every cop doesn't always fly straight all the time. Yeah the cops that were involved should have been punished i agree but my friend who had nothing to do with that whole mess gets caned because he's on probation. I've seen and heard of much crazier things that happen when a cop is on probation and does some crazyness. Just look at that tackle cop at times square he's on probation I haven't heard anything since, oh wait the other day the charges were dropped against the cyclist. Do you think he's getting fired probably not i heard his pops was on the job and retired as a detectve. Thats how the job is its not what you know its who you know which sucks.

Default Let's talk real.

Granted, improper memobook entries will get you in trouble, usually a slap on the wrist but it also depends on what was written or omitted. Given the fact that your friend was on probation along with the circumstances that resulted in a serious crime, it was enough for PD to relieve your friend from the department.

Don't take this the wrong way Deebest, but there are always three sides to a story. PD's, your friend's and somewhere in between, the truth. There could be more to the story that your friend does not what to reveal.
