Going into NYC this weekend, just want to find a shopping area that has different stores than what is typically found in Shopping Malls. Like where do you find stuff that is not normally sold in malls??

(Yeah, "unique" is kinda a vague term but surprise me with your own interpretation of it)

Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn or Jamaica Avenue in Queens. If you're looking to spend some money then check out soho in Manhattan.

Street vendors don't accept credit cards, only cash (very rarely will they accept credit cards).

Probably one of the most unique shopping experiences in the whole city can be found on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, especially along Eldridge Street. If you haven't been there, then you shouldn't waste any more time, but go ASAP.

ABC Home & Carpet is always a fun store to poke around in. See if any of the big flea markets, like the Chelsea Flea, is going on this weekend. There's also a church gym on Mulberry Street in Nolita that showcases "emerging designers" on Saturdays. The lower east side, already mentioned, is a neat experience too. As is Pearl River Mart & the other Chinatown emporiums- great gifts & home stuff for relatively cheap. Bergdorf Goodman is fun for window shopping. If the Barneys warehouse sale is still going on, that's a must do.

Most every other store stocks stuff you can find anywhere, just a greater assortment than in the "branch" stores.

Barneys warehouse sale starts Thursday. It's a must visit, if you have any interest in high fashion/good designers.

Also, the whole street of Bleecker, west of 7th Avenue, is a glut of great shops. Six Marc Jacobs alone, Brunello Cucinelli, A.P.C. Specials, Mulberry, Jack Spade, two Ralph Lauren store and so on.

You could visit Williamsburg, too—some very good resale shops and other small boutiques.
