We got a lot of snow in a short period of time. It takes times to plow all the streets. Everything should be cleared by tuesday. Next will be collection. Hope everyone works smart and be careful with the snow and ice.

Last year as well as years before then I would see trucks with snow plows back to back or a spreader following a plow truck. I also noticed more time between that the trucks came on my block. Whereas before they go around and around more then twice.

Saturday am is my garbage/recycling pickup, now I know that the snow started later then expected but they could have completed the routes with more then enough time to spare. by 9-10am, they are done and going to the dump. It didn't start snowing heavily until after 6pm on Saturday. Add to the fact that everybody was called into work on Saturday because of the storm. How long does it take to put on a plow? measure and fill up the truck with salt? Not a big deal that garbage piles up in the cold weather, my question is what were they doing on Saturday before the snow started in the mid afternoon?

Don't forget that the storm in question was very unpredictable and its track was slowed down much more than what was forecast. Plan C was called for and staff was set in place. Remember the snow was expected to hit by mid morning Saturday. As time progressed into the early afternoon, all the weather forecasters kept pushing the start time for NYC back. Ask yourself this question, if you were the chief making that call Saturday morning what would you have done? With the knowledge that snow was only a few hours away as forecasters said? Would you send out the bulk of your workforce with snow dressed equipment? No way. That chief didn't take any chances. He followed the gameplan.
