I believe so..it took some time (a few months, I think) between my number coming out on the list and me actually getting a class date.

First I got my score, on an orange slip, with my list number, and then the list came out in The Chief, if I recall correctly. When they were ready to call me for a class, I got a letter. There were a few months in between the Chief publishing the list and actually getting the letter of hiring intent.

Remember that MTA has removed its tests from the DCAS system. I'm not sure if the Chief will be publishing future lists. I guess new hires (or potential new hires) will have to contact Human Services directly to find out where they stand.

Personally, I'm not sure that what MTA did was legal. One could conclude that they're trying to circumvent the Civil Service Law by trying to impose standards of their own devising. But I doubt anything is going to change until someone takes them to court over it.

Two nights ago, on "2 Broke Girls", there was a scene where the two leads got stuck on a subway train that had to be discharged in the middle of a tunnel. When they showed the conductor leading the passengers out, I immediately noticed the costume department had failed to equip him with the requisite 30 lb backpack, lol. (or safety goggles..)

The last eligible certified means that transit has your number and you may be called when they get up to your number .hiring is based on the needs of the agency .

I'd like to apply, but I'm afraid my career would get derailed. At least that's my train of thought. I guess I'm just not sure what my station in life will be if I get side-tracked. Although this could be my ticket to a new life and my platform to success! My wife said she's giving me the green light on this one.

God gimme a Signal, Man !

For what it's worth, there is a 78 yr old gentlemen in the current conductor
class. This is from a reliable source at NYCTF. Not sure if being a lawyer had any effect on his hiring, but I have to tip my hat to him.

You can only stop yourself.....
