The hand wasn't Creature Double Feature afterall I guess. The Rheingold ad was before my time, but it was cool to see the "oh Diane" commercial again.

YouTube - Milford Plaza Commercial Lullaby of Broadway New York Hotel

This is the Milford Plaza commercial if I did the link correctly.

If my memory is correct, I think Rheingold sponsored that Miss Subways contest. They used to put up pictures of the contestants in the subway cars. I know this was at least in 50s, maybe even before, but I was a baby then.

That was $43.00/person--more expensive than I would have imagined for that time.

Remember when everything was dirt cheap? A slice of pizza, gum, a can of coke, etc.

I remember a HUGE triple-decker egg salad sandwich & a banana split at the Woolworth's lunch counter for 80 cents back in the sixties!!

Funny how we used to use SO much change back then...now change is just a bother & doesn't get you hardly anything!!

BUT...things WERE cheaper, but also the pay was much less, so it was still a struggle to make ends meet for a lotta folks!!

pack of gum 5 cents, a bottle (no cans) of coke 15 cents, etc. A subway token was 15 cents. A ride on the Staten Island Ferry was 5 cents.

Damn, I really MUST be old.
