"Marble Dropping" sound from top floor of my Apartment?

Firstly, What are "HDB flats" in Singapore.


Having read the Singapore thread I think one of the explanations rises to the top: the refrigerator compressor shutting off. I have seen and heard fridge and AC compressors shut off. If even one of the shock absorbing bushings is worn out (as it usually is,) the compressor will do a clunk-rattle-rattle-rattle. This sound will carry throughout a concrete floor.

Can you please say why do kmow about it. Why did you get facnated and do you know about what happens and why it happens? Do you know about long island and if it happebns there and especially in suffolk county, ny?

I hear a marble dropping, bouncing and then rolling on a hard surface. Tenants live upstairs. It is happening right below their dining room table that is on carpet. House was built 1912. Last owner died falling on the stairs -upstairs. I am living in the basement that has been turned into an apartment. Kids played with marbles 100 years ago. Maybe it is someone from the past. Only happens between 2-5:30 am. It is summer so not cold pipes. I will be moving upstairs soon. I live in Washington.
