Firstly, What are "HDB flats" in Singapore.


Having read the Singapore thread I think one of the explanations rises to the top: the refrigerator compressor shutting off. I have seen and heard fridge and AC compressors shut off. If even one of the shock absorbing bushings is worn out (as it usually is,) the compressor will do a clunk-rattle-rattle-rattle. This sound will carry throughout a concrete floor.

I hear a marble dropping, bouncing and then rolling on a hard surface. Tenants live upstairs. It is happening right below their dining room table that is on carpet. House was built 1912. Last owner died falling on the stairs -upstairs. I am living in the basement that has been turned into an apartment. Kids played with marbles 100 years ago. Maybe it is someone from the past. Only happens between 2-5:30 am. It is summer so not cold pipes. I will be moving upstairs soon. I live in Washington.
