Hey ya'll...This is random and I am sorry about that but here is my question...Why do most "luxury" apartments outside of new york city have washers and dryers in the unit but almost none of new york city's luxury apartments have them ? Is there a reason why most of them have laundry on a certain floor and not in the actual unit? Thanks
Maybe it has to do with the age of the building & what the apartments are wired for? I live in a new luxury building in Manhattan & I have a washer/dryer in my apt. My sis used to live in a refurbished building before she moved out of the city & also had a w/d in her apt.
A LOT of it has to do with the frequency with which washers flood, damaging not only the unit in which they're located, but the unit below. In special, designated rooms, there are provisions to mitigate that possibility. Many co-ops and condominiums also don't allow units in individual apartments - it's not just the rental buildings.
