How did I miss this thread?
I was constantly teased about the music I liked by my HS friends. I always wanted to put on 80s music (new wave mostly) and they always insisted they put on z100
You'll see the most obscure types of music in my collection: from the Glenn miller orchestra (1940s), Metallica, old school rap, and my ultimate favorite singer, Bobby Darin. My favorite decades for music are the 1940s and 1980s. Favorite 80s bands are Duran Duran, Heart, New kids on the block, The Cars. I don't like that much of today's music. Only band/singer I like from today are The Killers. I like their older stuff though, not that much of today's.
With guitar, I like to play to U2, Nirvana, and Heart (I'm an inspiring Nancy Wilson )
With drums, I play to Green day, Nirvana, Guns n Roses, The Killers, metallica, plus lots more.
I'm curious as to what my fellow New Yorkers listen to. It doesn't matter what genre or style. Hip Hop, Jazz, classical etc.
For example I listen to jazz, hip hop, and R&B. I actually listen to George Gershwin, Billie Holiday, Toots Thielemans, and other jazz and blues.
My favorite group however is Black Moon. Favorite solo artist is Nas. What is
your favorite?
My musical tastes are very eclectic - and perhaps reflect that I too am eclectic, maybe to the point of eccentricity. I love Today's Soft Rock (WLTW and Fresh FM), Country Pop, Oldies from the 50's - 80's (Cousin Brucie et al as my favorite DJ for that), and Reggae. My favorite artistes are Faith Hill, Taylor Swift, John Mayer, Landon Pigg, Maroon 5, Elvis, Patsy Cline, Charley Pride, Johnny Mathis, Bob Marley, Buju Banton, Gregory Isaacs.
