I'm looking at an apartment near Riverside Dr. and W. 73rd, I've never been to New York let alone LIVED here, is that a safe location?

Default well, maybe it wasn't...

so safe in 1974 because that's the area that the Bronson movie "Death Wish" took place in!

I LOVE that neighborhood. It's GREAT! I used to live around there and really thought it was the best possible place: close to the subway, close to the park, near Zabars and Fairway.

do you all think that area was that bad in 1974 as they portrayed in Death Wish(push in violent assaults, rape and killings) or was it exaggerated? The setting took place at the Kersey's apartment at Riverside Dr and W 79th street

I lived in the area at that time. It was FINE. Death Wish was a movie.

The city overall was a lot more dangerous in 1974. So I wouldn't be surprised if Riverside might have been sort of dangerous back then.
