Does anyone know the name of the Disco in the early 70s on Queens Blvd. in Forest Hills across from the Court Houses. I was a Friday night regular there. It was on a triangle. I met my ex husband there over 35 years ago.
I was a bar-boy at studio 54 for a summer(1977). I was only 15 and I sure learned a lot. I saw so many celebs.
I remember one night there were two private parties and I stood at the back door and let in all these really rich, beautiful people only after they showed me thier invitation.
I think I never did drugs because I watched two Girls licking cocaine off the floor after someone else had dropped it and didn't care. I thought this was so pathetic. I still have the vision in my head. Like a Quintin Tarantino movie.
During the 80s when Freestyle dominated the NYC club scene you had a lot of clubs on the west side...The Tunnel, Red Alert, Roseland, and down on 14th st was The Palladium and there was The Underground on 17th & Broadway.
I believe La'Mours was on the other end of Queens Blvd near The Sage diner. There was one in Brooklyn too. During the 80's they catered to live rock bands, mostly heavy metal and hair bands.
the DISCO FEVER in the bronx was ahead of its time in the 70;s and 80's. rap was born there and acts like run dmc, ll cool j and the beastie boys all got thier starts there.
I was a club DJ from 75-79
i liked the fun decadent atmosphere
It was a much simpler time, a much simpler life and all about max fun
Like bell & james said LIVIN IT UP FRIDAY NIGHT-except it was really tuesday thru saturday nights
We had our prom at Bentley's (25 E. 40th Street) in 1980. I'm pretty sure it was around in the 70s.
My friends speak of Tunnel and Paradise Garage (DJ Larry Levan) in the 80s but I was living out of state at the time and never went.
