These parties take place once a month at the Bruckner Bar and Grill in Mott Haven and are a blast from what I have heard (altough, being over 30 (gasp!) I am a little too old to partake, lol) Photos courtesy of Elle Perez and Richard Scott and the Bronx Underground / Bronx Revolution Group. You young ones should check it out at their next party at the end of the month!
No, girls1, it is the name of the group (an offshoot of The Bronx Underground) who, among other things, hold live music / dance parties every month at the Bruckner Bar and Grill. Here is their latest flyer for the next event. (And, btw, I make absolutely no money off this and I am not involved with this group other than wanting them to continue to succeed in bringing cool fun stuff to this borough). This is what one of the founders has to say:
"Produced by a collective of Bronx native musicians and artists whose events have been profiled in Time Out New York, The New York Times, numerous blogs, on going.com as an editor's pick and more, the monthly Revolution! party exploded onto the scene this summer and will continue with its next event on Friday, November 21 at Bruckner Bar & Gallery (1 Bruckner Blvd on the corner of 3rd avenue – under the 3rd avenue bridge) in Mott Haven, The Bronx.
This month's party will feature live indie and dance-rock bands including Looking Glass Wars and Bronx based Millsted. DJs Adam Underground and special guest DJ Xio spin 80s, new wave, indie, rock n roll, 90s, punk, electro and more all night long. Drink specials throughout the night! New art in the gallery space each party."
It makes sense this type of stuff is starting to go on in the Bronx now. A lot of the places that would host new bands and etc in Manhattan have shut down. A lot of people feel Brooklyn's become over-saturated. Plus the rents are too high. The music scene in NYC is in serious danger of dying out.
I'd estimate 99% of these kids are from other states. Btw, what's with all the tattoos? Disgusting. I'm sure their parents are proud of em. I can remeber when kids worked hard, took a few civil service tests, and thought about raising a family.

Since the days of the Civil War, we've moved on, fought a couple of world wars, gotten involved with two Southeast Asian conflicts, and now we're engaged on other fronts around the Middle East.
Yes I have been to one of these parties and its refreshing to say the least. What the pics do not show is that these crowds get MASSIVE, into the hundreds, and they take over the whole street. Its actually a very cool event, and so is the crowd....the vibe is really cool, everyone is just having a good time, and for many people it is their first venture to the Bronx, and they ALWAYS love it and have a great time. If anyone is interested in going to one of these events, but does not want to go alone, feel free to PM me and I would be happy to join you! This is pretty cool! Thanks for the great photos.
