I´d be happy to know if there are any design/ advertising/architectural offices in or around Riverdale ? Or is all the buzz only located on Manhattan..

Thanks

Riverdale is fairly residential and most businesses cater to the needs of the community ( eg, clothing stores, groceries, restaurants, etc). My guess is most creative business is located in Manhattan but Yonkers ( about 3 miles north of Riverdale in Westchester County) has a growing arts community. Something might be going on there. Also, check out the RiverdaleNYfamilies yahoo group. You can post this question and see what response you get.

There are some architectural practices in Riverdale, but they are mostly geared towards residential structures and are much smaller than the Manhattan firms.

Default Thanks :)

Good to know, since I´ll probably be living in Riverdale w/hubbie and child, but my profession is in architecture/design so I was just wandering if the commute would be doable, or if there would be any local creative jobs around.

Thanks a lot

commuting to Manhattan from Riverdale is very doable. There are several transportation options including metro north ( 25 minutes from spuyten duyvil to grand central in midtown) as well as an east and west side express bus and the #1 train ( subway). Depending on where in Riverdale you live, you can either walk to to any of these transportation options or take a bus/shuttle to the trains.
