I am planning a trip to the Brooklyn Children's Museum for myself and my 18 month old son. We live in central Jersey, would it be easier/safer to drive to rooklyn and park by the musuem, or take a train to Manhatten and then subway (or whatever) to Brooklyn. I am not very familer with Manhatten and have never been to Brooklyn.

The drive is fairly simple from Central New Jersey as you'd take the Turnpike to 278 (which changes names a few times), cross the Verrazano, and continue on 278 to Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn. You'd not be on the city street until that point, and it's about 3 miles to Brooklyn Avenue where the museum is located.

It's a pretty straightforward drive, as opposed to taking the train to Penn Station and then the subway out to Brooklyn, with an eighteen month-old. Plus, it's easier to have the car instead of trekking all the gear you'd need with you on trains all day.

Definitely drive.

I live in Manhattan and when we go there we always drive. It is not in the most convenient location for us.

And it is a GREAT museum! Your child will love it.
