I miss my gym with a great sauna, jacuzzi, steam rooms.
Anyone know of a place in Manhatten, specifically East Village (between 1st-5th ave, near 14th st)
I am not actually looking for a gym, but a bathhouse (respectable)
years ago i actually ended up going to the emergency room from an infection i picked up in a sauna at the gym. they are incredible breeding grounds for bacteria.... i never would go in again.

Appreciate the feedback and information of the dangers but still want to go
I belonged to Golds Gym in Raleigh and it was a wonderful experience and the "cadillac" of gym experiences. All for 34.00 per month! They had jacuzzi, wet and dry sauna and an olympic size swimming pool as well.
I went to detox 3 times per week in the sauna's and felt glorious!

i'm new to this steam bath scene as the only steam i've ever had in my tub was when i bathe by myself and think of the victoria's secret catalog i just threw out in frustration. are these saunas, steam rooms, etc., usually unisex?
