I noticed only one thread about the Cash Cab game show and that didn't offer any information. Do you know how to get on to the show or is it just the luck of the draw? Do people in New York watch the show?
On a cell phone commercial I saw lots of people ice skating on an outdoor ice skating rink. How do they maintain the ice during the summer time? I know that sounds funny but here in California are Ice Skating rinks are indoors in a controlled environment.
Do people have cars in the city and if they do are their apartments that have garages to keep your car at? I remember watching an episode of Seinfeld where one of the charachters had a car and kept it parked at a lot some distance from his apartment.
I've never seen the program, but I understand that getting on Cash Cab is the luck of the draw.
The outdoor rinks close in the summer.
Most people in Manhattan do not have cars. Most of those who do have the thrill of paying $400 and much, much more every month to park their cars. Some buildings with garages have made their garages condominiums, where you can buy a place and pay a monthly maintenance fee. Some buildings have garages, but most don't.
In the other boroughs parking isn't as much of an issue.

Cash cab is just the luck of the draw. I did have the pleasure of seeing the cash cab drive by me one time but they already had a passanger. I'll watch it if I happen to come across it when I'm flipping through the channels.

Not sure how they control it. I'd be the first person to fall and break my neck if I tried to skate so I never bothered to investigate it.

The majority of the people who live in Manhattan do not have cars. The people who do have cars pay in excess of $400/month to park in a garage. Compare Parking Rates Daily/Monthly Garages Lots NYC Boston New York provides parking locations/rates. For those rare occasions when a car is needed I use Zipcar
I know someone who was on Cash Cab - it was partly pre-arranged and partly a surprise. I'm not sure how they found him - I think he was "solicited" on the street, but then they told him to be ready on a certain day, bring a friend, and what corner to wait on. He believed he would be picked up to go somewhere and take part in a survey or a contest. Then the Cash Cab arrived. Think about it -- the camera always catches them outside of the cab beforehand, releases have to be signed, the contestants are never alone, the person who gives the answers always sits on the passenger side, and the people they call are always home - some part of it has to be planned.

SO goes the real life TV shows that we have on the air today. The show does have a disclaimer at the end of each episode stating that the people on the show were informed prior to taking part in the show how it would work. Sure they signed releases at that point. Would still be fun to try it out.
