i have a studio apt. without AC and with cable TV, computer, 2 pest control devices and stereo set all plugged in my bills come to about $55-70 per month. with AC used only when i am here in the evenings 5 days a week and on my 2 days off the bills are about $120 per month
when i first moved in 1991 my bills without AC were about $25 per month, about $85 with AC. but back then i didn't have cable or computer
Con Ed is such a huge rip off. I hate them. My bill for a mid-size one bedroom is just about $100 per month, and this is not just average usage.
My friend just moved out to NJ from Brooklyn and bought a home. She said her Con Ed bill in Brooklyn (for an apartment) was $100.00 a month on the level billing. Now (in NJ) her bill is $45.00/per month for a home, and this is with the central air running. Insane.
I live in a very small studio and don't have AC or a TV. Basically I use my computer, charge my phone, the microwave, and lights and I use about 100-120 kWh a month with my bill being about $45-$50.
turn off everything and look to see if your meter is still running.
