I need a nice place, nothing too fancy or pretentious. Price range around 250 dollars for the night..downtown near west village i guess...
Need some suggestions....nice ambience, good/warm atmosphere...A friend recommended Buddha Bar in the meatpacking district, but it seems more like the type of place you would buy a bottle/table at rather than having a nice dinner and a few drinks afterwards...
You mgiht consider Gotham Bar & Grill on 12th or Mas on Downing St. If you don't mind a trek to Brooklyn, however, I'd suggest the River Cafe on Water St., since the setting is stunning.
not to sound like a gold digger, but where do i find a date who'll spend $250 on a night out? lol.
(really moneys not important i was just shocked at the price, whooo.)

i doubt ill spend that much... but thats like my limit for dinner and drinks somewhere afterward. idk, prices at some places can get expensive. i figure at least 60 bucks for a dinner, some of the prices i saw for a seafood dish were $27 easily.. and then maybe 80 bucks on drinks or so (i can drink like a fratboy)
I was at Gotham Bar & Grill a couple of weeks ago for a friend's birthday party. The food was good, but it seemed a little corporate for my taste. More Midtown than Village. It's also expensive; if you're having wine with dinner, $250 for the night is not going to go that far. The appetizers are $20+, entrees $35-40+, and desserts around $15. You'll easily spend $100 per person for three courses without alcohol.
Personally, I would avoid anything in the Meatpacking District. It has been so heavily shellacked with pseudo-glitz that it doesn't feel like New York anymore. More like LA with cobblestones.
You might try Little Owl (the little owl | 90 Bedford Street, NYC). It's a tiny restaurant on Bedford. The food's very good and it's more affordable than Gotham. It's a very relaxed, neighborhood kind of place.
