I just got off the phone with Verizon, apparently they don't offer internet service in my particular area (10468 zip code), and perhaps the whole Bronx, for whatever reason (scratching my head). I was hoping they did, they are way cheaper than Cable and it's honestly not a big difference, my parents have it (they live in Harlem) and its fast.

Anyway I currently pay $45 on my Cable bill for Optimum Online, it's actually supposed to be $50 but I get a $5 discount for having the triple package with Cablevision. I just wanted to know if there was anything else out there. I really don't think the service is worth $50. It's adequate, but definitely not worth $50. I think it's a rip-off.

My parents are paying like 20 bucks for internet, DSL, but they also have a combo package which includes the landline. This is also probably why they pay less. I have a three pack with Cablevision, I pay like 65 for cable, 20 for a landline and 45 for the internet.

I just think Cablevision still takes advantage of the situation. Along with time warner they pretty much have a monopoly. I wish there were more options.
