The best part of Queens for a middle class white family would probably be Long Island ... the far Eastern Part of it ... possibly even living on a houseboat and anchoring it in the Atlantic off Montauk Point ...
In the event that doesn't work too good for you , Rego Park , Kew Gardens , Woodside , Forest Hills would be fine ...
If you're the adventurous type and like to stand out in a crowd , you could try Jamaica ...

Most of these peoples answers are great ,but ppl talking about the public schools being bad are WRONG, I mean I lived in jamaica queens in the beginning but I moved to flushing, that's a great place also howard, whitestone,Bayside, bay terrace,Middle Village,Fresh meadows. There's a lot to choose from,
The demographics of Queens are always changing .1970s still very white, by the 80s big latino influence, 90s even more latino, some asian, today very asian and Latino. it is the most diverse borough in the entire country. if you like diversity, Queens is an amazing place to live. if you don't, you will feel very alienated. if u are looking for that old school white italian NYC neighborhood, that NYC doesn't really exist anymore. and the few place that still have some inkling of that dying culture like maspeth, middle village, glendale, HB -- are only temporary safehaven as most of the white people who live there are older and their kids don't stay. but maybe you and your family are the beginning of a new trend. if u don't want to be a trend setter, move to Long Island.

When people who spell and punctuate like this talk about how good the schools are, I just can't take them seriously. Sorry, but I just can't.
