I was talking to a supervisor in my garage and he said he was being promoted to superintendent in the next couple of weeks. I guess that means they are going to have to fill those supervisor positions.

I heard 10 Superintendent's are going to be made at the end of the month. I heard no supervisor promotions until fall, when nightplow is ready to begin. What did everyone else hear?

They left their hearts at the door when they became supervisors. They leave their brains and morals at the door when they become superintendents.

Default the times they are a changin'...

Talks of truck cuts, cleaning after your collection route, layoffs and new pension tier's. This is what your looking at.

The old adage of diggin' your own grave, making your own bed, and giving you the rope to hang yourself have paved the way for the chickens to come home to roost.

For all the guys waiting to get on this job....hold on tight. Look for other employment in the meanwhile. If they want you to work 25/50 with no overtime calculated into your pension then this is a totally different job. They think we are a joke? We devised our own 20 year pension by paying into NYCERS extra money for 10 years and now they are going to want you to pay that money forever and stay longer and do more and die trying.

This job has a VERY significant "wear and tear" factor. We deserve what we have and then some. How you will be expected to do an extra 5 years MANDATORY, behind the truck no less.

To every sanitation worker who reads this today.....THIS IS AN 8 HOUR JOB. It works both ways. Preserve your body so that you do not sell yourself short. It is not out of laziness. It is out of self respect. Self worth.

We are taking a reduction in our headcount through attrition.....as per policy as of July 1st. They will not be looking to replenish who leaves. They will be reducing the manpower for cleaning functions. What was always touted as our "first priority" is taking a backseat to collection. However this should put us at 1,000 over. They are hoping that truck cuts generate enough manpower to accomplish our cleaning functions..... i.e. baskets and MLP AFTER newly revised half trucks.

WAKE UP. YOU DESERVE WHAT YOU HAVE ..... IF YOU EXPECT TO SURVIVE EITHER FISCALLY OR PHYSICALLY THEN TAKE YOUR SAFETY INTO ACCOUNT.

IT'S AN 8 HOUR JOB. TAKE YOUR TIME. WORK SAFELY.
