alot of senior guys are not gonna retire they got kids in HS college..the job market stinks would you rather stay and make full pay or leave and get half ??????
well with that half you can always move somewhere else where cost of living is as high as living in the city. Pick up a side job perhaps.
I spoke to a friend of mine that is a retired NYPD seargant. He keeps insisting that we are not going to get laid off. His main reasoning is that it is an election year and that would be terrible for Bloomberg. He keeps telling me that we are going to hear rumors similar to what we are hearing now for the next 20 years.
Maybe somebody that posts on here and has a good amount of time on the job may be able to determine if this makes sense.
but can you find a job making 25-30k right now??? at 50yrs old??
I feel sorry for the guys who never got even a small education or special trainning to get a semi decient job or lived in a box and don't know someone or at least a friend of a friend to get a job when they retire....
alot of guys are retiring. alot of them. Are guys in the garage scaring them into retiring?
So Epyon, you have really noticed a significant increase in retirement applications? Is it noticeable enough to think it may prevent layoffs and maybe even have another class sometime this year? I'm in the lower 500's just like you and can hardly take another day at my current job.

Good luck to you.
I second that. I'm in the lower 800's and would love to get hired even if I were to be layed off right away. at least I would know I'm comming back.
