That would make the most sense, bring your own munchies. If I paid $96.00 for an order of 2 burgers and fries that would leave me a very bitter after taste, lol.

I work near Yankee Stadium, so I've been watching the new stadium being built little by little every day. I thought the new stadium was an unnecessary expense at first, especially since they had to tear up a neighborhood park to put it up; but, now that it's up, I think it looks really nice. It's amazing seeing the area buzzing so much with activity, and I'm eager to see what the new Gateway Center will look like.

Interesting thing, though: while on the bus Friday, I overheard a conversation between a couple of neighborhood kids. One of them was griping that he wasn't allowed to skate near the stadium; a huge bodyguard barked at him and his buddies to leave when they tried to do so. Last I checked, there was a skate park a block away from the stadium, so they're not being totally deprived. Still, it makes me wonder how relationships between the people who live in the area and the people running the stadium are going to be going forward.

Oh, and $96 for two burgers deluxe? Not unless Mario Batali grilled them.

Default Taxpayer Park

Taxpayer Park A and B. Both facilities have added a combined $1.8 billion to the public debt. Nothing like getting rammed for $1.8 billion and then having to fork over $96 for a couple of burgers. How about the $18 to park at Taxpayer Park in Queens? Needless to say both places are ripoffs. Anyone who pays a few hundred to watch steroid fueled meatheads chase balls is not so sharp. Aqueudct/Belmont is free, is way more fun and you can use your brain to make money, instead of sitting around and being a public address system puppet.

Agreed. That's why when I do go, I sit in the bleachers for 12 bucks and eat cheaply outside the stadium. As for the PA system, I usually ignore it. I'd have been fine if they stayed in the old stadium, but I'm not going to deprive myself of enjoying something I like even if they try to do everything they can to make it more difficult.

That's cool. I remember paying $3.50 to watch the Mets in 1981 when Joe Torre was the manager and they so bad they couldn't even choke as they were in last all year. I still loved it and remember the smell of the frankfurters cooking and the smell of spilled beer in the stands. Now it is a huge scheme to milk the fans for as much as they can. You have resent the PA system they have now, it is no longer a game but an entertainment experience and they control the crowds moods at all times with pumped fake cheers. The whole thing is from he phony crowd noise to the pumped up steroid players is fake and too expensive. This used to be low budget entertainment. It is not my cup of tea and I have moved on to better things.

Actually I didn't think everyone would chime in with how great the stadiums are. I would have had no objection if they used the old Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium this year. I just started this thread to describe going to the place and not losing my enjoyment of something in spite of absurd prices, steroids, canned noise. The game has been around for well over a century and the game itself is much bigger than any of the nonsense that has gone on.

if it was up to me id give everyone just one swing, thats it , 1 swing and your out of the box,,, kind of help move the game along.

thankfully i love the mets french fries so ill go to the game but if they over price those too im staying home.....

I dont see why anyone would want these stadiums to fail..and it is NOT TRUE that it costs a family "hundreds of dollars to see a game"...more disinformation. You can ALWAYS sit in the bleachers for $15 each, so a family of four can see the game for a grand total of $60. Whats the problem here? The problem is people want to pay whatever it is they deem fair and reasonable, and anything over that is "evil" and they are the "victim." It is a very American-victimization mentality and when you actually introduce the REALITY of $60 for a family of four to see a game....the comments are clearly just silly. So if you don't WANT TO pay $95 bucks for a hamburger, DONT...the same way I don't WANT TO pay $200 for 4 pieces of sushi at Nobu. I don't call them evil or that I am somehow the "victim" because they charge that much...I just dont eat there. So again I ask..what is the problem here? Beer too much? DONT BUY IT! Drink before/after you go! Food too much? DONT EAT IT...eat before/after you go. We as a society are not entitled to seats behind home plate, 4 beers, 3 hot dogs, fries, sodas, and everything else for $30 bucks! You want it..pony up!

What many react to is the public funding that was put in place to build these stadiums and now the huge price spikes for everything. It's not akin to a private restaurant that charges what the market will bear for their clientele, because they were not given sweetheart deals on the taxpayer dime.
